HTA Win Prestigious State League Competition

The Hellenic Tennis Association Inc is proud to be the Winners of the 2005 State League Competition. State League organised by Tennis NSW is an invitation only elite singles and doubles competition run over 6 weeks. The best tennis players in NSW are invited to compete in this prestigious competition.

Michael Kypreos, the team captain selected a strong team of players who were part of last years runners up team and also successfully introduced new players to the squad who competed in this years Hellenic Australian Tennis Championships. The team included ATP Ranked players Sadik Kadir, Jurek Stasiak, Niko Trkulja, Ben Rocavert as well as former over 35’s world veteran champion Sean Karam and top Australian juniors Michael Massih and Jason Kaye.

The full team squad was as follows by playing order; Sadik Kadir, Jurek Stasiak, Niko Trkulja, Ben Rocavert, Sean Karam, Michael Massih, Jason Kaye, Martin Loke and George Ziogas.

The Final was played against Sydney University at the Sydney International Tennis Centre in Homebush and the Hellenic Tennis Association won 4-0 (doubles rubbers not required to be played). The team for the final was Sadik Kadir, Jurek Stasiak, Niko Trkulja, Michael Massih and Sean Karam.

President of the Hellenic Tennis Association, John Giavis was delighted with the team’s success. He stated that “this is an outstanding effort by the team who were undefeated throughout the competition and we are all proud of their achievements. Overall, the whole team played flawless tennis throughout the competition and finals”.
